Hi Dulac
If your vehicle is within the manufacturers warranty and you wish to maintain that warranty then I agree that having it serviced by the manufacturer is the sensible option. However, i dont believe that the fluids specified by manufacturers are anything special. No vehicle manufacturer makes its own fluids in much the same way as the warner transmissions, diffs and transfer boxes are used by numerous manufacturers, including GM, all of whom specify there own fluids.
The Opie oils site is well worth a visit as it specifies fluids by manufacturer and part number, it also provides full spec sheets on each fluid.
Best regards Milton

If you let me know what spec fluids or part numbers you are after I should be able to put together a list of options for you.
Cheers,
Guy

Hi everyone just thought I would add a bit of help for you who have had trouble with blower sensors on your antara.I had this problem and for weeks deliberated on what to do eventually I went to Vauxhalls and was told I would need a diagnostic check Β£90 then if it needed a new one that would be Β£120 and then the labour charges and vat so about Β£450.Spent a bit of time on the internet but eventually found a place that fixes them for Β£30 plus a diagnostic check Β£50 (which I didn't need because it doesn't show up ) it cost me just Β£80 as I did it myself. So if your heater blower stops working, doesn't turn off or only blows on No.4 don't go to Vauxhall .Get in touch with Quality electronics,Workington,CA14 3YF. E.Mail contact@ger.biz

Welcome. We are small but perfectly formed and you might recognise a few old hands!

Hello Mobile Mick, glad to have you aboard. As BJS says, board's a bit quiet now and I'm not so sure about Dulac's small but perfectly formed description, - sounds like a Benny Hill-ism or an excuse from the back of the bike shed.

Could it be that our members (pardon the expression) are deliriously happy with their Antaras and have nothing to report?
I like to think more Ken Dodd than Benny Hill, but perhaps I am just a snob.

Hi Jimmas and welcome aboard. Pity about the other board changing hands, there's a lot of good tips etc on there but it just seems to have gone flat. No matter, there's still a few of us around - until Peugeot / Citroen blends us into one big homogonous mass.

Welcome to the forum, Jimmas. The other forum used to be very good indeed, with members always guaranteed a quick response to their queries. Hopefully this small forum might just take its place in helping others - without the complexities and time errors of the other one. It wasn't broke but the IT experts fixed it (and b*gg***d it up in the process).

Hi folks just joined up as I'm thinking of buying an Antara, bit of the backstory, recently sold my Qashqai petrol that I'd owned for 5 years as I had a hankering for a quick car and am now kinda missing the space and practicalityπ, I've got the chance of a 2012 antara 2.4 petrol at silly money, it's immaculate, mileage is sensible etc, but the reviews are kinda making me hang back π€ I'm not overly fussed about mpg or the ride and refinements of a Q5 or whatever, just want something spacious, reasonably well equipped, reasonably quick and torquey and fairly reliable, I'm not into spending big money on cars so the antara kinda suits me, any body got any input for me π€tia π

Welcome to the forum, soggy. I think the 2.4 petrol was post-facelift and used on only the Exclusiv range. Perhaps the biggest nuisance on the Antara is the DPF regen process, but of course this is restricted to diesels and you wouldn't have any of that nonsense. At least you could use the petrol version for short runs. I bought the 2015 diesel 2.2 after reading poor reviews in the trade press (which appeared to be based upon the pre-facelift models). Owners gave a different story - much more positive for the later versions. I find the car to be a good workhorse, with enough weight and power to pull a 1500kg caravan comfortably - but this is the diesel engine. Plenty of room inside and an elevated driving position, which beats sitting on the floor of a lot of saloon cars these days. All in all the owners on this forum seem happy with theirs (they don't say much) and the members are made up of a small group of owners who have had their Antaras for a few years and perhaps understand the pitfalls of lack of maintenance a bit better than some others. The low price is probably a reflection of the the poor trade reviews and the vanity of some buyers who are dazzled by a German badge - and pay the price for it. Check to see the service history and get confirmation that the recalls were carried out. There were just a few and relatively minor at that, but necessary nonetheless. The 2.2 diesel engine is certainly chain driven, rather than a belt, but little seems to be known about the petrol version and they seem rare. I think Antaras were once a popular choice for those people with disabilities, who received government assistance to buy a car and this is borne out by some of the earlier complaints which really concerned running a large car without ever giving it a chance to warm up properly (i.e. using it for school and supermarket runs only). No car with an internal combustion engine will stand that treatment for any length of time. It's the old story: use good fuel, change all of the fluids and filters more frequently than the book says and give it an Italian tune-up on the motorway every now and again. Good Luck
