Hi ray
This is a fault when the vehicle has to many attempted regens as on a reg some diesel is mixed with the engine oil increasing the oil volume in the engine. I know engine oil is of a low ash content There are some other members on here with a lot more info and explain it much better that me 👍

When you changed the oil did you change the filter too? The oil filter can hold a lot of contaminated oil/diesel mix and will certainly dilute an otherwise fresh sumpful of engine oil. At the very least you should loosen the filter off either before you start or while you are actually draining the old oil. On no account should you drain the old engine oil then replace the sump plug before loosening the filter.
The filter is inverted and holds about half a litre of oil with a check valve in it to stop all that oil draining into the sump whenever you stop the engine (otherwise you'd have an empty filter every time you started up and have to wait till the oil circulated around and filled it = oil light on and bearings knocking). Even if you don't change the filter, it's a good idea to unscrew it, drain off the bowl and clean it out before replacing it.

Thanks for the heads up Victor. I did an oil an filter change about four months ago but this one was a couple of weeks ago, I didn't bother with the filter, oops 🙊
