I hit a lump of builder's rubble lying in the (fast) road the other day and I see that it has broken the spoiler under the front bumper. Does anyone know if the spoiler is a separate item or is it integral with the bumper assembly? I'd like to replace it but if it is the whole unit I shan't bother.
This makes three incidents of hitting junk in the road since 2015: the first was a lorry exhaust which fell off on the motorway and I couldn't avoid it (new tyre and mudflap); the second was several scaffold boards lying across the carriageway on the M2 Medway bridge (they just made a noise as I hit them); and now this. Am I just unlucky? No Specsavers jokes please!

Hard luck with the latest collision Dulac. They say it comes in thress so, with any luck that should be you - for a while at least.
Had a look at mines and the spoiler has a moulding right along the lower edge which looks as if it's fairly easily replaceable.

Thanks for that, Victor; it shows what a state the main roads are in darn sarf. The diagram shows the various components clearly so I will now keep an eye open for bits at the right price. I never liked touching bodywork and trims because they always seemed to be fixed with curious plastic clips that break as soon as you touch them. Does anyone remember Dzus fasteners - I last used them about 50 years ago?

I remember Dzus fasteners all right, engine cowlings, access panels all that kind of stuff. Also remember Camloc and Airloc of the same ilk. These days it's more the odd Tywrap (zip ties) for holding things together or Ziplock for my domestic duties in the kitchen.

Just had a closer look. The bumper has a lump out of it as well. At least it isn't all flapping around. eBay salvaged units are £200 - £400 (complete with scratches, etc.) so I shan't bother. Given my luck, if I replaced it I'd whack something else the next day. Would it add value to the resale price? No. Is it an MOT fail? No.
