I received a letter this morning from Vauxhall UK advising that an alteration to the ECU is required to prevent damage to the starter motor, FOC. It is now booked in at my local VX dealer. Did anyone else get one?

I will, thank you BJS, given that the auto function was altered (by VX) three years ago to work as described in the OM. Both ends? I never knew that!
The recall is Vauxhall-sponsored and does not appear on the DVSA list. It concerns a "software deviation that could damage the starter motor and cause the engine not to start." The ECM will be re-programmed with improved software.
There was a pre-paid standard form with the letter inviting me to let Vauxhall know if ever I give up ownership of the vehicle. It must be a devil of a job for manufacturers to keep track of owners in cases such as this, so if anyone has acquired a used Antara it wouldn't do any harm to confirm their details with Vauxhall Motors Ltd.

Got my letter as well, going in next week to get done. A software update, something to do with the starter motor, hmmmm. After all the recalls/rework with the starter cables makes you wonder if the fault has really lain with the ECU programming. I was thinking of asking them to update mine to the 184ps rating but might be better to leave well alone since it's been running OK.

Has the tongue loosened off enough to holler at the wife to bring you another can of freshly chilled beer while you're watching TV?

Recall just done and they checked the auto headlights - OK. The dealer also carried out a complimentary health check. All discs OK, 40% left on pads, front tyres good for another 6 months or so and rears slightly better (all Hancook). All bits original from new after 35k miles.

Had the recall done on mine last week and asked them what it was all about. They said it was a software update to correct starter cables overheating but he wasn't too sure about the whole thing. Can't see how a software update would correct the overheating issues we've had with Antaras, more to do with faulty cable design, installation and insulation. Just wondering if they did an undercover software update to address cheating on emissions testing a la Volkswagen. I've read of a number of owners putting their VW's in for servicing and the dealer has surreptitiously updated the software but not admitted it.

Victor,
What a suggestion! I see that 40+ thousand Jaguar/Land Rovers have been recalled today for emissions mods. I blame Brexit.
