Hi Everybody Has any one got any idea how to open the fuel flap on my Antara, the locking mechanism has jammed shut on the flap only, the rest of the central locking is working fine, so cant get any fuel currently, I have removed the panel in the boot but cant find any access to the solonoid from inside the boot area, short of breaking the flap which I do not want to do I cant find a solution to get it open. 2012 2.2 exclusive.

Hi Jimmas
Here is a few pics of how and point lock is engaged to flap a pin comes out of solenoid into hole. It may be possible a fuse has blown but re access to solenoid you may remove deep side pocket fixing screw is at the bottom of pocket to check wiring and plug

Hopefully you have got fuel filler cap opening ok now. Don’t forget to let everyone know if it was just the fuse that needed replacing

Nice one, BJS and it caused me to read the OM on the subject. I didn't realise that if the fuel filler cap is not screwed in properly it can cause the engine management warning light to illuminate. Learning, learning, all the time!

Yep we all still learning lol That’s why I put up pics 1st re trying to get access to fuel cap and then squatted up and found locking filler cap cover has its own fuse I know the link is for the 2014 model but should be the same as the 2012 model as both are the facelift models. And yes I learnt from you today 😊 re filler cap not being fully fitted can bring management light on

Hi Guys Thanks for all your help, fuse was fine the actual solonoid had packed up, I managed to lever the flap open with force which split the flap pin holder that the solonoid pin goes throgh to lock it but fortunately was still intact, new solonoid on order from Vauxhall £103.00 plus vat and around 10 days to get. if this happens it appears it can only be forced open as no other access to it as double skinned, not a good design really. Many Thanks.

An update is always worthwhile, thank you Jimmas. £120 is painful for what is achieved.
Can the cracked holder be glued (e.g. Araldite)? Has the solenoid failed or is it corroded, or a bad connection perhaps? Thinking it through, is it worth replacing the solenoid if the flap can be forced anyway or does the solenoid stop the flap from flapping in the breeze when driving?

Hi jimmas
Have to ask have you removed the solenoid and checked it’s operation with a different 12v power source or checked switched voltage at the solenoid plug with locking unlocking vehicle with remote and then key in drivers door as I think poss different switching signal to solenoid worth a try I think it was the corsa that this was a thing to check.

Hi Dulac, no flap still shuts okay, and have glued top of broken part, possibly no reason to replace other than keeping it as intended, makes it harder to steal diesel from tank, if that was ever to happen.
