oil light & spanner showing on dash when driving how do I get it off. It seems like local garage did not or could not reset it when last service was done.

Take it back and ask them to clear it as part of the service you paid for. A bit like not stamping the book.

Hi Kevin You could try the pedal reset which works on models up to 2013 then itโs a laptop job Take out the drivers mate 1st
1) Make sure all doors are closed 2) Push the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it there 3) Turn the ignition on so that all dash lights come on (but don't start car) 4) Release accelerator pedal 5) Push the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds 6) Turn ignition off

thanks bjs, I used gulf dexos 2 specially formulated for gm vehicles on service as local garage prefers customer to source own parts. I will make sure they reset on next service.
