Hi Steve Looks like the plastic clip for the metal ECU is moulded to the plastic holder see fog below

The top two plugs to the ECU lock itoplace and will not come loose so fitting a cable tie around the whole plastic holder will stop any vibration or movement of the metal ECU Pic of both plugs connected to ECU top pic ofplug released which is done by pushing down the little black clip which then allows the plug release

Hi Steve Looks like the plastic clip for the metal ECU is moulded to the plastic holder see fog below Hi Steve looks like it’s only the plastic clip on holder circled in yellow pic below both are marked in red to remove both plugs just push black clip in to allow the gray plastic to lift up on each plug to unplug from metal ECU use something to prize in the clip into the holder if it’s still there so when you slide the metal ECU into holder it will slip past both areas which in turn locks ECU into place then replug plugs back into ECU using reverse method locking gray plastic into place as you push the gray lever up it unplugs plug and as you push gray lever back down into place it pulls plug into ECU locking onto ECU

That’s a shame someone didn’t want to slide a piece of flat metal to release clip If you go on eBay there is a lot of antaras being broken may be worth sending one or twos message re engine ECU holder by battery box you never know don’t ask don’t get 🤞 Or even VX dealers for new plastic holder for ECU should be able to give you a price over the phone If you haven’t done so have you thought about joining the VX service club you can get up to 25% off parts www.drivevauxhall.co.uk/news/vauxhall-service-club

As I said earlier Steve that both electrical plugs lock into place so they should be ok and cable tie around the holder should be satisfactory to hold the ECU in place stopping any movement. It just doesn’t look like it should 🤔

Well done BJS with your investigation and the photos. I didn't know there was a locking clip for the ECU in the bracket - not that I'll be taking mine out, (or at least I hope I won't be taking it out because that would mean big trouble) and it must be quite easy to snap it if you try using brute force.

Yep not bad for me 😂 considering 👍😉
