The OM confirms that the headlights are automatic in operation, but mine stayed on all the time. I was under the impression that Vauxhall had installed an Auto feature, but then modified it to create a condition where the headlamps were on all of the time to act as DRLs. I asked Vauxhall to revert them back to true auto headlights, as described, which they did with no fuss and I find the feature very convenient. DRLs don't bother me. There must be a daylight sensor involved somewhere. Incidentally, if your headlights come on automatically after the intermittent wipers have run a few sweeps then this is deliberate.

Light (lux) Sensor is fitted top centre panel on dashboard it’s the prismatic sensor if you cover it your outside lights will come on 😉 Mmmm when I went to mr King the service manager said na can’t be done mate so I showed him the schedule re reverting back to auto lights he scratched his head and went away on returning he said yes that can be done and cost will be just over £100 if you hard earned cash to do I did pout out that the schedule did state work time was 0.24hrs So didn’t have it done so turn the light switch or leave it on auto so lights on all the time and just dash lights work with outside light levels 🤬

My line was to contact VX UK and ask that the lights perform as described in the OM. This was arranged without a problem - and at no charge to me. I found that, when the headlights were on all the time (and particularly in queuing traffic), they dazzled the car in front if it sat low to the ground.

I used the service bulletin to persuade my dealer that their initial 'can't be done' statement was incorrect. They charged £20 to do the work which I think is fair for 0.24 hours work. Bit of a bargain really as it eventually took them 2 days 😂😂😂

I recall that W J King at Gravesend did it in about a half-hour. My car was still in warranty, however. Given some of the stories about VX dealers generally, I find WJK to be one of the better ones; not cheap, but fair and conscientious.

It is likely that only Vauxhall can do it. I suggest you print out Big John's attachment showing the technical bulletin and take it to your VX dealer, emphasising the 0.4 hour time to do the change. They should have the correct software.
