I have a 19" alloy as a spare. The only way I could make it fit (the diameter is OK but the tyre width is too great) was to unbolt the compartmented boot storage unit and lid (easy) and make up a plywood profile using the lid as a template. I painted the plywood with matt black paint, put the wheel in the metal well, stuffed my tools, hi-viz and other items around it, placed the plywood on the top with some sponge pads at the corners and laid a genuine GM Antara moulded boot tray on top of that which fitted perfectly. I stretched a luggage elastic across the plywood to keep it still and it works fine. I believe that other owners have had the luggage compartment floor taken off and re-mounted on battens to lift it a couple of inches and also cut a large hole in the storage unit to take the wheel. I did not want to cut and carve anything about. At least I carry a full-size matching spare, a jack and wheel spanner, the repair gunk and compressor, plus all the other stuff one accumulates 'just in case'. The wheel is a lump to handle so I bought a cheap zip-up bag to suit the tyre size - with loop handles - on eBay.

I have a 18 inch in boot at moment with all the foam infills taken out no problem but wondered with 20 inch being 245 wide & 18 inch being 235 wide will it fit in boot ok without any mods.

Mine is 235 50 r19 and the manufacturer's hinged boot floor would not close on it. I checked it with a straight edge and ruler before moving forward. I gather that there are differences in the boot space depending on the age and model of the vehicle; some are reported as having the insert moulded to take a spare.

Yep I agree with Dulac as I have had to modify boot floor to accommodate 19in matching alloy wheel So your answer is no a 20in will not fit under floor without raising it by approx 25mm
